1. Who We Are

Qurantify is developed and operated by Azizi Digital, based in the United Kingdom. Azizi Digital is the data controller for the purposes of the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. This Privacy Policy applies to the Qurantify mobile application (iOS and Android) and to the website at qurantify.com.

2. Which Versions This Policy Covers

This policy describes the Qurantify apps for iPhone and Android, including version 3.1.0. Content is delivered from our own server and from the content servers named in section 5, and the reading, search, prayer-time and memorisation features work on your device.

Versions released before 2.0.0 retrieved some content — Quran text, translations, audio recitation and prayer-time calculations — from external services operated by other organisations. The connections the app still makes are listed in sections 3 and 5. If you are running an older build, updating to the current version brings it in line with this policy.

3. In Short — What Leaves Your Device

Only the following ever leave your device, and only when you cause them to:

• Requests to qurantify.com, our own server, when you stream or download content such as audio recitations and translations, and, on Android, the optional smart search files (section 5).
• Requests to the public content servers named in section 5, for Quran text, tafsir and some recitation audio.
• Your coordinates, sent to your phone's own location service (Apple's on iPhone, Android's on Android) to look up the name of your town (section 4). They do not come to us.
• If you use Recite from Memory, your recitation, handled by your phone's speech recognition: Apple's on iPhone, Google's on Android (section 6). It does not come to us.
• Data you choose to sync through your own Apple iCloud account, on iOS: Premium sync of your reading position, bookmarks, highlights and memorisation progress and, if you create or join a Shared Khatmah, the Khatmah and the name you type, which the people you invite can see (section 6).
• A transaction with Apple or Google if you choose to make a purchase.

The app transmits nothing else. We do not operate an account system, so there is no profile, no user record and no login associated with you.

4. Information Stored on Your Device

The following is created and kept on your device. We have no technical ability to read it, and it is never sent to us:

• Location — used to calculate prayer times and Qibla direction. The calculation is performed on your device by a built-in engine. To show the name of your town, your phone's own location service looks it up from your coordinates (Apple's on iPhone, Android's on Android, normally Google's); we never receive your coordinates. The last known coordinates are kept on your device so prayer times can be recalculated without a new location fix; on Android they are excluded from Android's backup. On iPhone, location is used only while the app is in use. You can withdraw location permission at any time in your device Settings. When your iPhone asks for permission, it shows this text: "Your location is used to calculate the Qibla direction and accurate prayer times for your area. Qurantify keeps your last location on this iPhone only and never receives it. To show your town's name, Apple's location services look it up."
• Preferences — theme, font size, chosen reciter, translation selection, calculation method and similar settings.
• Reading progress, bookmarks and highlights — your position in the Quran and anything you have marked.
• Memorisation progress — review history, streaks and scheduling data used by the memorisation feature.
• Recite from Memory results — for each attempt, the verse, the date, your score and how many words you needed help with. They are not synced, and on Android they are excluded from Android's backup. Your voice is never recorded or saved.
• Downloaded content — any audio, translation or other content files you have chosen to save for offline use and, on Android, the optional smart search files (section 5).

5. Our Server (qurantify.com)

The app connects to qurantify.com to fetch content you have asked for — audio recitations, the call to prayer, the catalogue of translations and the translation files, verse-timing data, content packs and the manifest files that describe them. These requests carry no personal information and no identifier: the app asks for a file, and the server returns that file. The app asks for the translation catalogue each time it starts, and the files you download show which audio, translation or timing file you chose.

Like every web server, ours writes a standard access log entry for each request. That entry contains your IP address, the date and time, the file requested, the referring page (if any), the user-agent string sent by your device or browser (the name and version of the app or browser), the response status and the size of the response. An IP address can count as personal data under UK and EU law, so we set out our handling of it clearly:

• Purpose — keeping the service secure and available: diagnosing faults, detecting abuse, and managing bandwidth.
• Legal basis — legitimate interests, UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f). We have balanced this against your interests and consider it minimal and expected.
• Retention — access logs are retained for about 90 days and are then deleted.
• Use — logs are never used for advertising, profiling, or tracking individuals, and are never sold, shared or transferred to any third party, other than our hosting provider, which processes them on our behalf.
• Location — our hosting is provided by Krystal Hosting Ltd, which operates the server in the United Kingdom.

Smart search (Android). Smart search is optional and off until you turn it on, and it is available when the app is set to English. When you turn it on, the app downloads two files once from our own server, qurantify.com/models: a language model (about 45 MB) and a list of verse vectors made from the English translation (about 5 MB), about 50 MB in total. If your phone is not on Wi-Fi, the app warns you before it starts. Each file is checked against a fixed size and checksum (SHA-256) and is deleted if it does not match. The files are kept in the app's private storage and are not included in Android's backup. Your searches are then answered on your phone and never leave it; the download request is the only thing sent. You can delete the files at any time in the app.

Content from other servers. The app also downloads Quran text, tafsir and recitation audio from public content servers: cdn.jsdelivr.net, raw.githubusercontent.com, everyayah.com, download.quranicaudio.com and cdn.islamic.network. Those servers see your IP address in the same way and have their own policies. The app sends them nothing except the request for the file.

6. Apple and Google

Apple and Google are not third-party services we have chosen to integrate; they are the platforms the app runs on and is distributed through. Their involvement is limited to the following:

• iCloud sync (iOS, Premium) — reading position, bookmarks, highlights and memorisation progress can sync between your own Apple devices using Apple's iCloud Key-Value Store. This data travels between your devices via your iCloud account; it does not pass through our servers and we cannot read it. Your Recite from Memory results are not synced. It is governed by Apple's iCloud Privacy Policy, and you can turn it off in iOS Settings.
• Shared Khatmah (iOS) — if you create or join a Shared Khatmah, the Khatmah's name, the display name you type, the juz you claim and mark as complete, and your iCloud user identifier are stored in iCloud (CloudKit) and are visible to the people who have the invitation link. By default anyone who has the link can join; the owner can limit it to people they invite. The name you type is linked to your iCloud account. It is used only to run the Khatmah and is never used to track you. This data is held by Apple in iCloud; we do not have access to it, and it does not pass through our servers. Section 9 explains how to delete it.
• Your town's name — to show the name of your town, your phone's own location service (Apple's on iPhone, Android's on Android, normally Google's) receives your coordinates and returns the name. We never receive your coordinates (section 4).
• Recite from Memory (microphone and speech recognition) — an optional feature that lets you check a verse you have memorised by reciting it aloud. The app asks for permission to use the microphone (and, on iPhone, speech recognition) only when you tap the microphone button on that screen, and only while that screen is open. We never record your voice to a file, never save it and never receive it, and the app does not keep the words that were recognised; it keeps only the result of each attempt (section 4). On iPhone, your recitation is turned into text by Apple's speech recognition: if your iPhone supports Arabic speech recognition on the device, this happens on your iPhone; if it does not, Apple may process the audio on Apple's servers, under Apple's privacy policy. On Android, your recitation is turned into text by your phone's speech recognition service, which is provided by Google: depending on your phone, its settings and the Arabic language pack you have installed, this happens on your phone, or your voice is sent to Google's servers to be converted to text, under Google's privacy policy. You can refuse the permissions and still use the rest of the app, and you can withdraw them at any time in your phone's settings.
• Android backup — On Android, your bookmarks and reading progress may be included in your own Google backup, under Google's policy.
• Purchases — Premium is sold through Apple's App Store (StoreKit 2) and Google Play Billing. Your entitlement is verified on your device directly with Apple or Google. No payment card details ever reach us, and we hold no purchase records on any server of ours.
• Crash and performance diagnostics — if you have enabled sharing of diagnostics at the operating-system level, Apple or Google may provide us with aggregated, anonymised crash reports. We do not embed any crash-reporting or analytics SDK in the app, and these reports do not identify you.
• Distribution and updates — downloading and updating the app is handled by the App Store or Google Play under their own privacy policies.

7. What We Do Not Collect

We do not collect, request or store: your email address, phone number, postal address, date of birth, payment card details, contacts, photos, calendar, health data, voice recordings, advertising identifiers, browsing history, or any account credentials. We do not receive your name: if you create or join a Shared Khatmah on iPhone, the display name you type is stored in your own iCloud account and shown to the people you invite, as described in section 6, and it never reaches us. The App Store privacy label lists Name because Shared Khatmah stores it with Apple. The app contains no advertising network, no social media SDK, no marketing or product analytics platform, no attribution or install-tracking service, and no fingerprinting of any kind. We do not sell or share data with anyone, because we do not hold any to sell.

8. The Website

• Fonts and scripts — every font, stylesheet and script on qurantify.com is served from our own server. No requests are made to Google Fonts, jsDelivr, or any other external host.
• Cookies — the website sets no cookies. It stores a single item in your browser's local storage to remember your chosen theme (dark, light or glass). This does not identify you and is not shared.
• Analytics — there is no analytics platform, tag manager, tracking pixel or embedded social widget on any page.
• Server logs — website visits generate the same standard access-log entries described in section 5, on the same basis and with the same retention.
• Outbound links — pages link to the App Store and Google Play. Once you follow such a link you are on that company's site and subject to its privacy policy.

9. Retention and Deleting Your Data

We hold no personal data about you on our servers other than the short-lived access logs described in section 5. Apart from those access logs there is nothing for us to retain, export or delete on your behalf, and log entries can be erased on request (see section 10). Data in your own iCloud account, including a Shared Khatmah, is held by Apple, and you can delete it yourself as described below.

To remove everything the app has stored:

• On-device data — delete the app, or clear its stored data in your device Settings. This permanently removes bookmarks, highlights, reading position, memorisation progress, Recite from Memory results and downloaded content.
• iCloud data (iOS) — go to Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage and remove Qurantify's data, or turn iCloud off for the app.
• Shared Khatmah (iOS) — in the app, open Features → Shared Khatmah. If you created the Khatmah, tap Delete this Khatmah and confirm: it is removed for everyone who joined. If you joined someone else's, tap Leave this Khatmah and confirm: the juz you had not finished are released, and the juz you had completed stay under your name. To take your name off a single juz, including one you completed, tap that juz and choose Release; do this before you leave if you want your name removed from the completed ones too.
• Smart search files (Android) — open smart search in the app and choose delete. The files are removed from your phone.
• Purchases — subscriptions are managed and cancelled through Apple or Google, not through us.

10. Your Rights Under UK GDPR and EU GDPR

If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, objection, and data portability in respect of personal data we hold about you.

In practice, the data you would normally exercise these rights over is held only on your own device, under your direct control, and section 9 explains how to view or erase it. The only personal data reaching us is the access-log entry described in section 5. We cannot identify you from a log entry alone, so if you wish to exercise a right over it we will need enough detail to locate the relevant entries — typically the IP address and approximate time. To ask for your access-log entries to be erased, write to privacy@qurantify.com with your IP address and the approximate time. Where we genuinely cannot identify you from the data we hold, Article 11 of the UK GDPR applies and we may be unable to action the request.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or with your local supervisory authority if you are in the EEA.

11. International Transfers

Our server and its logs are located in the United Kingdom and your data is not transferred outside it by us. Where Apple or Google process data in connection with iCloud sync, purchases or app distribution, those transfers are governed by their own policies and safeguards. If you use Recite from Memory, your phone's speech recognition is provided by Apple (on iPhone) or Google (on Android) and may process the audio on its own servers, under its own policies and safeguards; Qurantify never receives it.

12. Children's Privacy

Qurantify is a religious and educational application suitable for all ages. It contains no advertising, no sign-up and no messaging. The only text a user can type that anyone else sees is the display name and Khatmah name in Shared Khatmah on iPhone, which are shown only to the people the user invites. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA) — by design, nothing you type in the app is sent to us.

13. Security

All communication between the app and qurantify.com, and all traffic to the website, is encrypted using HTTPS. Content packages downloaded by the app are checked against published SHA-256 checksums before being used, so a corrupted or substituted file is rejected rather than installed. Because we hold no personal data on our servers, the impact of any breach on your personal information would be minimal.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time — for example, if a future version of the app changes how it handles data. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision, and material changes will be described in the app's release notes. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
